How to Choose the Right Wine

There's nothing better after a long day at the office than sitting down to a delicious meal and a nice glass of wine. You are ready to unwind, the smell of dinner just coming out of the oven fills the kitchen, and you are ready to relax. It's almost heavenly! Of course, nothing spoils that moment quicker than having the wrong wine. If you are looking forward to a relaxing dinner and a glass of wine, keep these tips in mind for choosing the right wine.

If you are trying a recipe that involves chicken or pork, you'll want to choose a lighter wine. Some types of wine could actually overpower your meal and be too strong for your entrée.
Rich wines go best with rich foods. For example, if you are drinking Merlot, you'll want a decadent steak or roast to go with the wine. Too light of a wine will dull your meal. In general, red wines go with darker meats and white wines go with lighter meats, like chicken.

At a dinner party, serve different types of wines. You could serve one type of wine with the appetizers, a light wine with the main course, and then another kind of wine with your dessert. This might seem excessive, but mixing in different wines will help keep your palette tasting all of the delicious food.

For many, the wine they drink with their meal is just as important as the meal itself. You don't want to spoil your delectable dinner with the wrong drink. Keep these simple tips in mind when you sit down for a nice dinner and a glass of wine at the end of the day. Remember, your wine is just as important as your entrée.
